How frequently are your products baked?
Our goodies are baked fresh every day, continuously throughout the day, to bring you the freshest products possible.
How long do your products keep?
Gluten-free and vegan products are slightly different from your typical baked goods, due to the fact that we use no preservatives or highly processed ingredients. While each product is slightly different, generally speaking the products are meant to be eaten as quickly as possible to ensure maximum freshness and flavor. Since air will naturally dry out the products over time, keeping them in air-tight containers at cool temperatures will extend the freshness for a day or two.
Can I place a special order?How far in advance should I do so?
For special orders, such as cakes, as well as quantities of products (such as cupcakes and muffins) larger than a dozen, we ask that you call to place an order at least 48 hours in advance.

What if I don’t have any food allergies? Is Sweet Freedom Bakery still for me?
There are many health benefits of avoiding traditional bakery ingredients. Refined, bleached flours and sugar wreak havoc on your insulin levels, zap your energy, and cause you to become addicted. Butter and dairy can contain saturated animal fat that can raise inflammation and cholesterol levels in the body. Moreover, butter is not a type of fat that can be used for energy production, as does the coconut oil we use. Dairy products can also cause increased mucous production in the body as well as digestive difficulties. The impact on your body of eating such products over time can be potentially detrimental. That being said, we don’t believe in deprivation, and think that everyone should indulge every now and then – but when you’re eating a healthier version of your favorite treats, you can indulge more often! Because we strive for our goodies to taste just as great as those that you’re traditionally used to eating, it’s a no-brainer! Our goal is for even those without allergies to love our treats!
Simply said, we hope to be a low-guilt, healthier alternative for those who just want to be more mindful of how their diet impacts their weight, health and overall wellbeing.
What gluten-free flours do you use?
We use a variety of flours including, brown and white rice flour, sorghum flour, garbanzo bean/chickpea flour and fava bean flour.
What kind of sweeteners do you use?
We use all-natural, low-glycemic, unprocessed sweeteners for our products, such as Coconut Sugar, Agave Nectar and Pure Maple Syrup.
Organic Coconut Sugar is made from the sap or nectar of the coconut palm tree flower. It is a raw, unprocessed sugar with a delicious flavor. It measures low on the glycemic index (a 35 – the same as an apple!) and, in moderation, more appropriate for those watching their blood-sugar levels.
Organic Agave Nectar is derived from the cactus plant. Agave nectar is also low-glycemic and gentle on your body.
Pure Maple Syrup is unprocessed and organic by nature. It contains manganese and zinc, and natural antioxidants.
The chocolate chips we use contain evaporated cane juice.
Although all of our sweeteners are known to be healthful, low-glycemic alternatives for those with diabetes, they may not be safe for everyone. Please consult with your physician to determine whether you should enjoy our baked goods.
We never use artificial sweeteners in our products.
What kind of oil do you use?
We choose to use our favorite oil - organic coconut oil – in our products. Coconut oil is a non-hydrogenated, naturally saturated oil that does not contain any trans-fatty acids. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has been found to contain anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties, making it beneficial for our immune systems. Coconut oil is predominantly made up of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) which are converted into energy and do not store as fat. MCTs actually help the body metabolize and burn fat more efficiently.
Do you use any genetically modified ingredients (GMOs)?
None of our ingredients are genetically modified.
Sweet Freedom’s menu is constantly expanding and growing to create allergy-friendly treats for everyone. Our mission is to “bake everyone happy.” Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate every allergy. Ultimately, it is up to you to check all ingredients to ensure safe consumption.
What if I'm allergic to soy and dairy?
We do not bake with any soy or dairy product or have it in the bakery. However, some of our purveyors may process soy in their facility. Therefore, there may be trace amounts of soy. It is up to the consumer to decide what they feel is safe consumption.
We use coconut milk in our recipes that call for dairy. Like coconut oil, coconut milk also contains lauric acid, plus it contains vitamins and potassium and is an excellent source of Vitamin B12.
How are your products corn-free?
Most baked goods have baking powder in them, which contains corn starch. We do not use baking powder in any of our recipes. For leavening purposes, we use baking soda and cream of tartar. Cream of tartar occurs naturally as a result of wine production. A crystalline acid forms on the inside of wine barrels. The barrels are scraped and the sediment is purified and ground to form cream of tartar. When used in baking, the result is a light and fluffy product.
The Vanilla extract we use is made with alcohol derived from cane, and is both gluten-free and corn-free.
The company that supplies our xanthan gum tells us that “while xanthan gum is derived from the fermentation of corn sugars, all corn sugars are removed in the processing of xanthan gum. Xanthan gum contains NO corn protein and is considered to be corn-free.” If you would like further confirmation, please call or email us and we can provide documentation.
Are you nut free?
We do not use tree-nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, etc. in our bakery, but we do use coconut products. Because the FDA categorizes coconut as a tree nut, we are not technically considered a “nut-free facility.” In addition, we use gluten free flours by Bob’s Red Mill, which are packaged on equipment that also packages almond and hazelnut flours. We recommend you use your own discretion if you are highly allergic to tree-nuts. We are completely peanut free, however.
Is your facility a dedicated gluten free facility?
Yes, the bakery has been built from scratch, with no gluten-containing products present in the bakery or on our equipment. We do not use any grains, such as spelt, that contain gluten.
